NEW YORK, NY, June 9, 2004 - The G Collection, the ultra-premium, couture-style line of hand-made chocolates by Godiva Chocolatier returns to shelves for an encore holiday season. The G Collection, created exclusively for Godiva by world-renowned pastry chef Norman Love, launched last year in a limited release for a sell-out season. Beginning on November 1, 15 custom-designed G Collection pieces, capturing new flavors and design techniques will be available for a limited time.
"G represents the fusion of my love of chocolate with my love of art," says Love. "I believe people eat with their eyes as well as their mouths. The G Collection brings the experience of eating chocolate to the next level with its combination of aesthetic and extraordinary flavor."
Love's founding principle behind the creation of the G Collection is the use of only the purest ingredients to ensure each piece has an explosive and rich flavor. Exciting new flavors for the 2004-2005 season include, P.B. & Jam, a perfect pairing of crunchy-smooth peanut butter and homemade strawberry jam; Apple Pie, a hearty combination including rich apples and warm scented spices; Vanilla Mascarpone topped with cocoa nibs, and filled with exotic vanilla from Madagascar, and luxurious Mascarpone; Palet d'Or, a dark ganache beauty made from Criollo cocoa bean from Ecuador to name a few. Love's signature style boasts unique handcrafted designs that he artistically and unconventionally applies to chocolate making in air brushed detail and abstract expressionist-like splashes of color. The design of each piece is an edible work of art.
The G collection experience taps into all of the body's senses beginning with sight and continues by heightening the senses with its flavorful aroma and taste that's sinfully delicious. The G Collection's packaging is fashioned in rich brown with a chic apple green trim. A variety of sizes will be offered, including a 15-piece box retailing for $40, a 30-piece box retailing for $75, and a 48-piece box for $125. A specially crafted, limited edition African Wenge wood keepsake box will also be available for $350. The base of each keepsake box will be inscribed with its unique number of authenticity. The average cost of the G Collection is nearly $100 per pound.
Always an innovator in the industry, Love is the former Executive Pastry Chef for Ritz Carlton Hotels. His passion for sweets has landed him on Chocolatier Magazine's Top 10 Pastry Chef's list and USA Today's Top 10 Artisan Chocolatier's list.
"The G Collection demonstrates our ability to deliver the most cutting edge design and flavors in the highest level of quality available," says Godiva Chocolatier President Gene Dunkin. "Norman Love's creations are an exciting new direction for our brand, which we know will resonate with Godiva's customers and chocolate aficionados."
G Collection chocolates are available from November 1, 2004 through Valentine's Day, 2005, in select Neiman Marcus stores, Saks Fifth Avenue locations, Godiva boutiques in select cities, and on Godiva.com/G or by calling 1-800-9Godiva.
